BRIDGET BARKAN

BRIDGET BARKAN

Bridget Barkan is a vibrant young artist emerging from roots deeply imbedded in NYC. She is a true storyteller delivering a message of an empowered woman.  Barkan’s old school, bluesy sound fills a room with meaning and wisdom. Her music is not only the voice for the broken hearted, but also a social commentary mirroring the invigorating energy of Lauryn Hill and Jill Scott, the poetic improvisation of Jeff Buckley, the vibrant performances of Janis Joplin.  Barkan has performing worldwide with the Scissor Sisters who opened up for Lady Gaga. Bridget has worked with various different producers and artists including Hip-Hop legend Q-tip, Chris Sholar, Gary Gunn, The Beatnuts, and legendary DJ Todd Terry.  Expression in every fiber of her being, her foundation as a performer began as a child actress and has continued through her adult life. She starred in the HBO film "Everyday People," co-starred with Maggie Gyllenhaal in "SherryBaby,” appeared in “Redacted” directed by Brian DePalma.  Bridget was a music therapist working with autistic and special needs children. She states this experience as her greatest inspiration.
